keyboard key messup after screen turn off or screen saver
Hi,
I just install the latest Virtualbox yesterday and i observed a very strange behavior. Below is the details description:
Virtualbox version: 3.0.6
Host: Windows 7 Pro RTM
Guest: Ubuntu 9.04
using seamless mode
Setting on Windows 7 to turn off the screen after 5 min (not sleep)
First install and run, every things look great. But after the screen turn off and i just move the mouse to turn on the screen again and login, the keyboard key mapping seem messup.
For example, when i try to type "Y" in the browser, the yahoo messenger pop up instead of "y" being type. and also when i type "G" window gadget popup instead of "g" being typed.
Anyone experience this?
thanks.

Moving to Windows 7 host.
Known issue, Power saving is going to cause this. Screen savers should not. Be sure that the HDD is not set to shutdown or go to sleep.

Not that I know of. It will appear to the guest that the HDD has been removed. I Don't know how to tell it that it is back since it would have lost the drive connection. Better to just not let power savers cause you a problem.

um..... i think i lost you. I do not have problem with the HDD connection. every things seem still work. But just like it is lock into the window key + "whateverkey i press" loop.
example:
window key + "Y" = yahoo pop up
I just wondering is there any things i can do to release the window key lock without need to restart the host machine.
thanks.

Re: keyboard key messup after screen turn off or screen saver
Sorry didn't mean to loose you.
It has been found that if you use screen savers and particularly ones that have power savers they make VBox go crazy. All kind of things can and do happen. When it returns it usually has lost connection to something and has a hard time recovering and in most cases as I expect is in your case the key board does not work properly. To test this out try turning off the power saver function and see if the problem goes away. If it does then problem solved, if not then we will need to investigate it further.

Re: keyboard key messup after screen turn off or screen saver
Thanks for your reply. I have a little more to update.
- Basically the problem is causing the host keyboard catching to go crazy.
- Seem like the window key (special key) is lock up, so no matter what key i pressed, even is a single key (such as "y") but in the host window it seem like (window key + y).
- I try using VMware unity, it did not seem to have this problem. So i guess it is a bug. Has this bug being reported?

Not that I know of. You are free to post it in bugtracker though. The link is below my post. You will need to setup an account there though as it is on a different system.
