This is for developers/experts,
Can we have this as a sticky thread ? ? ? ?
I want to know what all are common for Guest and host.
Like default Network is common. ie if the host has network guest would use the same Network.
Please list the stuff here that are common to both Host and Guest OSes. This would serve as great thread for newbees like me.

PS: I tried searching however did not get relevant threads.

I don't get it... What other physical network could the guest have access to if not via the host? Do people really need to have the obvious pointed out to them?

hmm..,
I guess I was not clear enough. What I meant is, we can have a bulleted list saying somthin like this:
Stuff thats common:
==================
Network (NAT)
USB devices/mass storage
printer
Stuff thats not common:
=====================
Network (Bridged)
Web cam
This is a fictitious list. However, we can have this is what I meant.

I'm still not sure I see the distinction between your "common" and "not common". Are you talking about "common" as in "most widely useful"? If so, many of those choices would be a matter of debate, and depend greatly on which host and guest OSs was involved. It would be a tree, not a simple list.

I am looking for advice as a nebee, similar to others posting/reading this thread. I have been playing around with vbox for a several weeks and like what I see.
Now I would like to make some implementation decisions and am looking for advice from experienced users.
I want to choose a host that can support future development. I now am operating with a 32 bit platform, but expect to move to a 64 bit platform soon.
I believe that a host that supports the essential needs of vbox without having non-essential applications/services running would be best.
Also the underlying characteristics of the host kernels dispatcher must be considered.
Where can I find such discussions?
I realize that such a discussion would include opinions as well as experienced advice. I am willing to sort through these multiple opinions as a part of making my decisions.
I expect many other reader are also willing
