Hi All,

I have received this error on my Windows 7 PC. I was running VirtualBox 3.0.4 on my PC without any problems, and then was prompted to update to the latest version 3.0.6, and so I have installed it. After rebooting my PC, I am now unable to open VirtualBox.

The error I receive is:

VirtualBox Critical Error
Failed to create the VirtualBox COM Object. The application will now Terminate.
Callee RC: E_NOINTERFACE (0x80004002)

A little background on my PC. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit edition on an Intel Core2Duo 2.66GHz Processor with 4GB of RAM. I have already searched the forums here and have tried repairing the install which has failed. If anyone has any suggestions I am happy to give it a go.

This can be from an error in the virtualbox.xml file. Post the file and at least one of the machine.xml files so we can compare them.
Other thing you can try is to right click on the install file and left click on run as admin. reboot after the install is complete.

I did try to reinstall by right clicking on the install file and Running as Administrator. At the end of the install VirtualBox does open, but it prompts to reboot. So I rebooted the computer and then opened VirtualBox, but the same error persists.

As suggested I have uploaded the two email files requested.

Look in the preference settings of the VBox GUI and see if the location for the virtualbox files are still where they should be. It looks like the location has changed on your upgrade, or for some reason the VBox programs failed to register.

Well now I feel like an idiot. The shortcut I used for opening VirtualBox was pointing to the VirtualBox.exe file on another drive of my computer. That virtualbox.exe file is for my Vista Installation on my PC as I dual boot between the two.
