Hi, everyone.

I have been using Virtual Box on Windows XP for over 2 years, everything went smoothly until today, when I planned to install 3.0.6 on a new HP 8530W laptop, which has a Windows XP SP3 box as the host machine.
During installation, the laptop blue screened, and restarted automatically, then bad things happened, I can't boot my Windows box again, even in safe mode.

Noticed the machine always rebooted during loading drivers, I found a solution as bellow:
1> Find a bootable CD-ROM with a mini-DOS on it.
2> Boot the CD, go to the windows/system32/drivers directory.
3> Delete the VBox*.sys file.
4> Now I can boot the windows box, but the virtual box can't be used.

Did anyone encounter the similar problem before, or else can cast some light over this issue?

I had similar problems, with Vista64 host. 3.0.6 crashed vista with BSOD, and Vista re-crashed on restarts. This was doing an upgrade from 3.0.4. I was able to get into safe mode and disable the VM network drivers. Only then could I do a system restore. I opened a ticket (#4944), but it seems to have languished there.
I had to re-run the 3.0.4 install and repair before 3.0.4 would even run - 3.0.6 crash messed up the registry I guess, even though restore ran...strange behaviour.

On many of the BSOD complaints I've seen for 3.0.6, most seem related to the network drivers - regardless if on XP host or Vista. It could be that certain MB network cards are causing the issue. However, how come 3.0.4 works just fine, yet 3.0.6 gives BSOD while installing network drivers? Has to have been some changes in network drivers for 3.0.6 that is causing it...

I will not install 3.0.6 until there are some patches...
