Eve online: I know its a long shot.

Post by Yamanipanuchi »

I wanted to attempt to get Eve Online working in a VirtualBox. I have the setup going, But when I execute EVE I get a task item in the taskbar, but its like the game is running minimized.

I have guest additions installed with the Direct X drivers loaded. Its a windows XP SP3 OS.

I know this is a long shot getting this to work. Guess im looking for some ideas/information that anyone else might have.

Thanks.

Why would you run a Win XP guest inside of a Win XP host to do this?

Also, was the guest running in Safe Mode when you installed the Guest Additions?

I'm hoping that I can make this semi Portable. I know moving it around if time consuming. But i want to be able to take the image. Dump it on a memory stick and then bring it to another PC that it up and working already (Without having to lay a whole new image into the PC).

No, When I installed the Guest Additions I was not in safe mode. Can I simply Re-install it in safe mode, or Uninstall and Re-install it in safe mode? Or should I Start fresh?

Yes, you should just be able to simply re-install the GA in safe mode. When you install the GA with 3D acceleration and you are not in safe mode, the GA install replaces 2 (I think) Windows DLLs. But XP will silently restore them to the original versions.
