Hello,

I have ubuntu 9.04 machine Host
I have Xp pro virtualized with virtualbox

I have a modem (USR Robotics 56K USB ref 5637 1.2
( http://search.usr.com/search?q=5637&btn ... t_test&oe= )

recognized and used in ubuntu
recognized by the additions virtualbox

Note that I go along effortlessly on the CD as the host of guest

my concern:

virtualized xp does not recognize the modem despite an install from the CD manufacturer.

Some told me they wanted to work with a user account and not root to configure. To me it makes no sense but the fact that the result has not changed.

I really need help and fast technique to run an application through that damned modem .... issue job.

Small precision, but is it really necessary? I am a beginner in linux world but have not had the choice by my boss.

Thank you very much and apologized in 1000 for the mistakes (I am French - it explains everything).

Configuration: ubuntu 9.04

Which VBox version are you running? On earlier versions there was a problem when the USB 2.0 EHCI controller was enabled.
Your profile shows "OSE other" which doesn't have USB support...
