dmesg:

modprobe vboxdrv:
FATAL: Error inserting vboxdrv (/lib/modules/2.6.31-desktop586-2mnb/dkms/misc/vboxdrv.ko.gz): Invalid module format
What's wrong?
Modules installation 3.0.6 fails on Mandriva (2.6.31-2.mnb)

Are you 100% sure that the current running kernel is matching the kernel-headers package?

Yes, I am, since I have installed the sources for the running kernel and the module seems to have compiled without problems.Frank Mehnert wrote:Are you 100% sure that the current running kernel is matching the kernel-headers package?
Inserting the modules seems to be the problem, but weirdly enough:
modprobe -f vboxdrv and the other two modules WORKED and I am nor running VBox without problems. However, I fail to understand this behaviour.

How can I reproduce this problem? We have a Mandriva 2009.1 jail here but there is no kernel later than 2.6.29.6 available.

this kernel is available in Cooker repository.
dont know what's wrong, but this happens only if kernel is built from source.
the same thing happens to proprietary video drivers etc.
perhaps mandriva team does some trick upon building kernel rpm
