Graphic card driver and configuration on Vista guest

Post by struble »

Hi there,

I have installed a Vista Ultimate 64 guest on my VB, which runs on XP/SP3 Pro 32. I have installed the Guest Additions on the Vista guest properly (under safe mode), and then tried to install the driver for my ATI RADEON HD4550 graphic card. After the installation I do not see any change, do not see any new driver installed (there’s just a generic “VirtualBox GraphicAdapter” in the Device Manager) and I can’t use the ATI Catalyst Control Center program to configure the graphic card.. Also, the rating for “Windows Experience Index” is only 1(!) out of 5.

What have I done wrong? :-)

Thanks for your thoughts..

You can not install the graphics adapter in the guest. It must use the VBox video adapter. The performance will be a low number anyway because of the overhead of running the OS in a virtual environment.
