Ping IP problem

Post by ehsun7b »

My Host: Ubuntu 9.04
My Guest: Windows XP

When I connect to my ADSL connection on my linux, the guest (Win XP) can use the internet. I mean I can ping google.com over there. On the Windows XP (the guest) I can ping google, 10.0.2.15 (loop back) and 10.0.2.2 (the linux host) but on the other hand on my linux I can ping none of them. :( :( :(

By the way, I've installed Guest Additions too. :|

It's normal to not be able to ping 10.0.2.2 and 10.0.2.15, because those are VB NAT addresses, unaccessible from the outside. Not being able to ping www.google.com would be a bit of a problem. What error do you get? Can you open your browser and visit that site? If you can browse the web, then you have to look for a more specialized Linux forum, because this is not a VB problem.
