Outlook 2003

I am running VB3.0.4 on a Macbook Pro late 2009 model with Leopard 10.5.8 as the host. I recently noticed that when closing Outlook 2003 the program continues to check for email, advise of appointments, tasks, etc. Additionally, even though the program is closed, I have a small Outlook icon in the far right task bar- which which cannot be closed or shut down.

In essence while the program appears to be shut down it continues to run in the background.

Has anyone else noticed or experienced this issue. Any suggestions to resolve this issue are much appreciated.

Michael

That is a "feature" of outlook. Nothing that VBox can do about it but if you want to close Outlook and not just the instance of it you must use the file exit and not the "X" in the upper right corner to do so.

Thanks for your insight - it was right on the mark.

I have noticed that since a solution was offered - for some reason if I "Exit" out of Outlook 2003 using the solution explained - the program continues to remain active (upon shutdown) when the instance occurs that email has been retrieved. If I reopen the program and "Exit" the program a second time - the program will shut down as long as no email is retrieved.

For some reason it appears a port continues to stay open once email is retrieved - until a relaunch of the program occurs and no email is retrieved. Kinda strange.

Any further perspective or comments is much appreciated.

@rmfine,

This is really an Outlook problem and one that you would need to take up with Microsoft.
Sorry but that's all I have. I don't use Outlook.
