Of course he can do that. He could also use a USB stick for that matter...
At the moment, I haven't got a network or a USB stick

When it's completing the download, press pause then resume.

Your problem is with IE and FF? Tried Opera or Chrome? Maybe it's some update on Windows, or other OS component that's causing this strange behaviour (like a driver).

Tried Chrome, not Opera - the fact that IE, FF and Chrome all show the same problem, and that it works in FF/Linux on my laptop, points to a problem with Windows on my desktop. To be honest I've got other things to do at the moment; I'm hoping that if I try again in a week or 2 it will all work fine.

Thanks for the help.

Update the driver you use for internet (network). Maybe that's the problem.

Network connection on motherboard, so you mean update the motherboard network interface driver? Ok, I'll check next time I'm on the desktop. Still seems strange that other downloads work.

Have you tried using any download managers to see if they work for you on that machine? There are several freewares out there. In either case, as you have confirmed that it works on your other machine, this confirms that it is not a virtualbox site issue, but rather your own host machine issue. My take is, it's not really fair to ask for Windows XP support through this Forum. You'll need to resolve your host machine issue (pls don't take this as a personal attack. I hope you understand. :) )

Rest assured that there is nothing different about downloading this latest version. It's like downloading any other stuff off the internet. Nothing special at all.
