Hi,

I currently use VirtualBox on my Windows 7 Host OS. This Host, just like Vista, doesn't recognize a particular type of hardware (Sony Handycam camcorder). There are only drivers for Windows XP. So, I'm unable to install this device in my Host OS. However, is it possible to install it under my Guest OS (Win XP), where it should work with its driver? Of course, I cannot add a USB filter for this device.

You can either enable the USB in the GUI settings of VBox and leave off the filters (do not define any) then boot into the guest and click on the USB device you want.
Or Use a blank filter (.) and then boot the guest. Unplug the USB device and plug it back in to get focus and it should appear in the guest.

You will also need the guest additions installed and must do it in safe mode. The camera may still not work though depending on the requirements of the software drivers.

This is really more a HOST problem so I am moving this to Windows 7 host
