static IP similar to host

I am able to browse etc., with my xp on ubuntu [ typical installation ]

but iam not able to talk to any of the machines in the host network

what are the tips and tricks ?

Are you using NAT?
If you have a router then use Bridged. If not then you will need to use host-only and add a second adapter to use NAT for the Internet.

yes,
the host ubuntu is in private space of the NAT on the router with ip 10.221.212.1
my xp [10.0.2.15] is on ubuntu [ donno how the networking here is implemented ?? bridging ? i dont see any info on ifconfig ]


i also have another ubuntu 10.221.212.2 in the same private space of the same NAT/router.

from xp iam able to access google.com but not 10.221.212.2

ok i dont have "bridged netoworking" option my virtualbox GUI version is 1.5.6_OSE

is there an upgrade or something? iam running virtual box on ubuntu

Older versions of VirtualBox like you are using called it host interface.
