I am running Ubuntu jaunty (i686) version on 64 bit supported server. What version of virtualbox should I download and install?

You get an error if you try to install the wrong version. You need the same kind of architecture build as you run for the OS. The architecture the Host supports doesn't really matter. Run 32 bit, install 32 bit, run 64 bit, install 64 bit.
