First of all: most USB devices work in my windows xp guest, like USB sticks, HDs
but I have several devices like:
- my Samsung Android phone
- a GPS navigation system
- a Blackberry phone
that I can put through to the guest (clicking on the USB icon and hitting the checkbox or create a filter at start-up), windows xp even cries for drivers (which I have installed from the vendors), but the software (eg: Samsung phone manager, navigation software, Blackberry phone manager) doesn't recognize it, they say the phone is not connected and so on.
I even tried to create an empty filter an plugin the phone after the windows-xp guest is running, but it still doesn't work
Has anyone an idea what the problem is? Are there any workarounds?

I have the exact same problem with HTC Sync. I've looked everywhere and no joy.

Re: USB devices
I tried now the useual:
in the etx/fstab
and it didn't change anything, if there are any other switches in the fstab I can try pls tell me, this is the only one I found
I have a question for the developers: Is it possible that VirtaulBox somehow changes an ID or any Identification-number of the USB device? I mean this could be an explaination why the software under windows doesn't recognize the USB device, even after windows got it. The problem is: VirtualBox gives the USB device to Windows, Windows installs drivers (so windows got it), but the device-software (eg: phone-mgmt software) doesn't like the USB-device anymore.
Code: Select all
none /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=46,devmode=664 0 and it didn't change anything, if there are any other switches in the fstab I can try pls tell me, this is the only one I found

Re: USB devices
Before VB 3.x.x, I had problems sync'ing my Blackberry Curve with WinXP in VB....it would detect the phone, but BB desktop manager would NOT. Somehow, after upgrading VB to 3.?.?....not sure when it started working, it sync's now in Outlook for the first time. I do it regularly. I will bring up the VM and check my settings et al tonight if you want to compare. I can tell you I plug in the BB after the VM is booted up.
OK...I'm sync'ing now with Outlook...I have to plug in the BB usb cable AFTER BB desktop manager is launched, then it detects and sync's.
