Newbie looking for information/help

Post by jperson19468 »

I am currently taking a Oracle course and the course software I need to complete the course will only run on Sun Solaris Sparc (64 bit) or Linux X86. Since my computer is a windows system, it was suggested that make my computer a virtual computer. Does Sun Solaris Sparc (64 bit) or Linux X86
run on Virtual box? Are there free downloads of them? Are there any patches that I need to know about with the Virtual box when I download and do a install? Is there any other information that I need to know about before I convert my computer? My computer is a windows Vista home premium (64) machine.

Thank you to all.

A good place to start is the Forum FAQ or the QuickClick FAQ, have a look there first.

I have just looked though Forum FAQ and the QuickClick FAQ and nothing in there seem to answer by questions. Could any one be more specific on what I should be looking for?

Download and install Ubuntu x86 from Ubuntu.com (Linux based off Debian)
Easy to use and requires a lot less memory that Solaris.
Let me know how it goes.

And that will run on the Virtual box? I will keep you posted when I get to it in my schedule.
