ubuntu/jaunty Hash Sum mismatch -> "no automatic update"

Post by cyoborg »

Hi everyone,

since virtualbox has been updated from 3.0.4 to 3.0.6, I got the following error using "apt-get update" ("aptitude update" is very quiet but give return code 255)

Failed to fetch http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... ckages.bz2 Hash Sum mismatch

Who should be contacted to resolve the problem? Any hints? Or even someone who wants to submit an bug-report? Or maybe its a problem at my site?

Thank you

It's a problem on your side, as I use Aptitude too, and updated without any problems. Running Jaunty btw. Please try updating the headers again, or somehow purge the known list. Use Google to find out where Apt keeps it's list of known packages and hashes.

Re: ubuntu/jaunty Hash Sum mismatch -> resolved

Hi there,

sorry for posting to this forum. I resolved the problem. It had nothing to do with virtualbox but with a corrupted file list on my local machine:
I did:

Code: Select all

rm /var/lib/apt/lists/download.virtualbox.org_virtualbox_debian_dists_jaunty_Release*
and

Code: Select all

rm /var/lib/apt/lists/partial/download.virtualbox.org_virtualbox_debian_dists_jaunty_non-free_binary-amd64_Packages*
afterwards I could do the upgrade. Hope this can help others. Google didn't really help ...
