Hi All,
With setup as per the topic, my Windows 2008 R2 Guest crashes when I set it to anything other than 1 CPU. I'm attempting to use the Netbeans IDE in the guest, where > 1 CPU would be useful. Netbeans uses Java, and scans of lots of files on startup, and it's while it's doing this that it crashes. There is not a definite corrolation between the two events.
The 'crash' is the display becomes completely corrupted, and the VM takes 100% of CPU available to it.
1 CPU seems stable, but goes slower than I'd like. I have 4Gb host, and using 2Gb guest memory.
Any suggestions on how to make > 1 CPU more stable appreciated.

Did you try the latest 3.06 yet?

Hi, sorry to cut in but this seems like the issue I'm having.
Is your guest Windows 2008 R2 a 64bit edition?
I'm also having problems and from what I'm reading the commom cenario is a 64bit guest, installed on a 64 bit host using more then one CPU. In my case a Windows SBS 2008 guest on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit - one core system works ok, two cores gives random crashes (my CPU in an Intel Core2Duo E6550). Had this problem with version 3.0.4, and the same problem happens with final 3.0.6.
Let's hope for a future correction.

Same problem with Virtualbox 3.0.8.
Host: Windows XP 64 Bit
Guest: 2008 R2 64 Bit
If i use two CPUs in the guest, random crashes.
If i use only one CPU, no crashes
