Bookmarks in Firefox

Windows 7 host
Ubuntu 9.04 guest
VB 2.2.4 with GA
Firefox doesn't save bookmarks or history. I have to open links in a new tab because there is no history or pages to go back to.
Is this a known or fixable issue?

I use Firefox on all of my installs, and have never seen this issue.
I can't think of a single reason that this would be caused by VBox unless you had the Guest HDD as Immutable or something like that.

Immutable is my guess.

Could you define Immutable? I set it up as dynamic if that helps. It's on a 40 gig all by itself.
Thanks for the time in helping me with this issue.
On an off topic note: I just updated to the latest version of VB and finally got the GA to install fully. I had to use a terminal and sudo the autorun.sh
but the bookmark and history issue persists.
Thanks again.

Look at 5.3. Configuring image write operations and #2. of the VBox Users Guide.
Unless you have been dink'ing around with VBoxManage though I don't really think this is your problem.
Unless you got the VM from someone else or from the Internet.

In the manager it says it's normal vdi. I didn't d/l the VM I installed Ubuntu from the iso I got from their website.
I'm fairly new to linux but really new to VB. Thanks for your help and patients

Well in that case I would run an update on 9.04
In terminal
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
Reboot when complete and see if it works better.

Since you use Linux as Guest, my guess is that you forgot to unmount the ISO after you were done installing it and is now constantly booting into the live environment.

I run update manager everytime I start it up but I will try apt-get. I did say the iso but didn't specify that I burned it to disc and installed it that way. I'm sure it's not the live I'm booted into. I don't have the Install link on the desktop just have the guess additions iso.
