hi,
i am using vbox 2.2.4 on a linux host and the guest is windows server 2003.
now when it automatically reboots after an update, the shared folders are not available until some logs in and the vbox guest additions get loaded.
is there a way to run it as service?

That's not an option, but what you need, is that Windows tries to reconnect to mounted shares automatically. It's quite possible that the GA service start until you're logged on. Some shares only work if you actually try to connect to them. Until then, connection isn't made or restored.

i am not using a drive letter for it. windows media server is not able to use the \\vbox shared folder until i login the first time. after seeing the additions icon coming up in the traybar, it starts to work fine.
another option would be the auto login like on a regular xp/2003. but it could not get it running on server 2003 r2 either.

What about using a real windows share? that always works without having to logon.
