Changes not present using Raw Disk

Post by hectorite »

Hi.

I am experiencing this situation, When I create a raw vmdk and use it on guest, works fine, but if I go to my host, changes are not present, this changes are visible until I reboot host. On docs I havent found that this is the expected behavior. I have searching on web, forums, etc.

I have tested vmdk completes, with partitions in both modes, normal and writethrough. all of them with the same result.

I use Windows XP as host, VirtualBox 3.0.4, I have tested Ubuntu 9.04 and Windos XP as guest.

You're not saying that you have the RAW disk mounted during VM use? Doing that can cause serious damage to the file system, and explains why you don't see it.

I understand. In documentation there is only a warning using only partition where host is installed, not about using another partition, that is why I was unsure about my problem.

As you clarify this, I am sure about behavior of this feature.
Thank you so much.
