My computer:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
6 GB
Nvidia Geforce 7300
Windows 7 RC 64-bit

Whenever I go and try to install virtualbox, it always ends in a premature installation fail. I've tried it with 3.0.4 and 2.4.2 and it still fails. I've looked through all of the forums and nothing has helped...

Here is the Windows error reporting event log entry:

Right click the install and then left click on run as admin. See if that will allow you to install.

Nope, still fails. Tried running it in compatibility mode too, that fails.

Noticed another log entry right before it fails...The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout.

Well the release of Win 7 is getting close enough that you may want to send a note of the problem to the devs. Bugtracker is at the bottom of my post. I know a lot of people have VB installed in Win 7 but there may be something that they need to know especially in the 64 bit version. You will need to setup an account there as it is different then the one here. Also tell them if you have the XP (mode) compatibility program loaded or not. That could be an issue.

Alright, I will. I have used VirtualBox previously on linux, and on window vista, and I must say, it is the best software of its kind for the price!! Would love for it to work on Windows 7 so I don't have to use VMware. :D
