I have an older VMWare Windows XP machine I'd like to load in order to use it for testing. When selecting the .vmdk file and booting, I get a "Disk Read Error." Googling I found this - http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Migrate_Windows - which says I need to use a migration tool.
However, the migration tool assumes the VM is loaded and running. This isn't possible as the machine on which the VM was created is long gone.
What options do I have?
Load Existing Windows XP VM (from VMWare) on VB?

Something most be up with the vmdk, you can try dumping it as raw to some external device and then run some repair tool on it, have you tried to attach it as a second disk in a VM?

Oh, that's an idea.
I hadn't tried yet.
Will do.
