moving VMs to Vbox running on different OS

can I create a guest VM and then deploy it to a vBox running in another OS.
For instance, I run vbox under Windows, create a windows VM and want to share the whole VM with vbox running on OS/X.
Is it as simple as copying it over to the second hosting OS?

It should as simple as that yes, at least between a dual core(vista) and a quad core(xp64) here, it works fine.
