Boot Failure after Host Crash

Hi all, I have been running vbox 2.2.4 on a windows xp host with a opensuse 1.3 guest. Yesterday the XP machine locked up and required a hard reset to get going. Now when i try and boot the Suse guest I get this error:
Error No operating system
FATAL: INT18 BOOT FAILURE
Is there anything i can do to salvage this system? There are no snapshots available (lesson learned) but there is some things i really need from the guest machine.
