having trouble patching

i downloaded the patch but when i tried to install got the error that it would conflict with current version.

Is it a blue or a red patch? the red patch will lead you to the truth, the blue patch will keep things as they are.

umm, the error was red but the link was blue, as far as i know there is no red patch.

You're missing the hint there. Never watched the Matrix? There Neo is given a choice, red pill or blue pill.

Anyway, you have to read the Forum Posting Guide and give us some more information. Patch... that's an OS thing. Check the VirtualBox FAQ too.
