Hi,
Using Virtualbox 3.04. The guest OSes is various Windows OS. On a Ububtu 9.04 x64 host, the Virtualbox shared drives access is painfully slow, there is a lag time at almost every click or file selection. While on a Windows XP host, the responsiveness is much better.
Is there any technical reason and how to improve the shared drive responsiveness on the Ubuntu host?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Why are shared drives much slower on Linux Hosts?

I am having the same problem on a Mandriva host. I thought maybe I didn't give the guest OS, which is Windows XP, enough memory.

I think I've seen this mentioned over numerous releases. found a fix in a bug ticket which brings the whole thing back to life (maybe will work for you): add "127.0.0.1 localhost vboxsvr" to windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts. shared folders are fast now (xp, vista, win7).
