Crysis Protected DVD -- not seen like original

Post by belanger »

Under Linux (ubuntu 9.04 latest patches + VirtualBox 3.0.4) , I created a Windows XP 32 bits guest OS.

I installed everything needed for Crysis to run, but when I start Crysis -- it says my DVD is a copy (but it's actually the original, I tested my DVD in a Windows native installation and it works fine).

Is this a known problem? Any suggestions... besides complaining to EA for that stupid "media" protection! :)

Thank you,
Pierre B.

Did you enable passthrough mode?

And even though the game would start with Passthrough enabled, don't even think you would get any decent performance out of it. You should be happy with 10 fps, tops. The game is too new and demanding to be running in a VM.

Yes I did enable passthrough mode.

For others thinking this is going to be too slow, I'm not reporting a slowness problem here (I'm old enough to know it will be slow ;-)
