Ubuntu 9.04 64, VB 3.0.2, XP install - boot medium issue..

Post by vuamp2 »

I am new to this forum & ubuntu.
I searched but did not see anything relate to my problem. Please help.
I get the below message when I try to install WIN XP SP2 on Virtual Machine.
"FATAL: Could not read from the boot medium! System halted."

Ubuntu 9.04 64
,VB 3.0.2
Try to install WIN XP PS2

Sun Virtual Machine setup:
System Details:
-Base Memory: 1003 MB (my system has 8000 MB)
-Boot Order: CD/DVD-ROM, Hard Disk, Floppy
-VT-x/AMD-V: Enabled
-Nested Paging: Disabled

Hard Disks
- IDE Primary Master: WINDOW XP on Ubuntu.vdi (Normal, 100.27 GB)

CD/DVD-ROM
- Host Drive: HL=DT-ST DVD-RAM GH40L (/dev/sr0)

SHARED FOLDERS
- Shared Folders: 1

Note:
- WINDOW XP on Ubuntu show "running" after click "Star" inside Sun VirtualBOx window.
- No problem access CD-ROM content (WIN XP OS CD-disk) or other CD-disk.

Any help on this is appreciated.

It's one of the first things in the VirtualBox FAQ response to this error (no boot medium found) ;). So you could have found the answer, but you failed to see it (happens all too often unfortunately, not just with you).
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
