I installed Ubuntu in VirtualBox under one user account in win vista, but when i logged out and into a differant user in win, VB did not have any machines there. is there a way to make a machine available in all users (on same pc)?

IIRC you were asked when you installed if you wanted to make this available to all users, of course I could be mistaken. For VBox to be able to be used by all users in Windows it would need to be installed in the all users space. You can try to make a copy of the VBox folder in a public area (not in your user folder) and then use the VBox program open file -> preferences -> General, change the path to the new location. Be careful not to delete anything until you are sure you know what you are doing or you could be reinstalling the VB program and all guests that you had.

The actual 'hard disc' is stord on another drive, so it should be public. I have changed the default hard disc folder to the other drive and the default machines folder to the place in the other user, but there are still no machines on the list. is there a way to import them?

You may want to post what you did to fix it for the next person that has this problem.

just export the machine from file > export appliance and import it on other users etc.
