Network initialization is really long

Hello all,
Please help with a networking problem. I have a host system Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and guest system Windows XP 32-bit. There is one network adapter in guest OS, working in "Host-Only" mode.
On host system "VirtualBox Host-Only Network" adapter configured as static address 192.168.107.1, mask 255.255.255.0, DHCP-server is disabled.
On guest system network adapter configured as static address 192.168.107.101, mask 255.255.255.0.
Right after guest OS boots up, network is not working, i can't ping guest from host, nor host from guest. But after about 1 minute, network starts to work and then works normal.
Why there is such long initialization time, and how can i get rid of it?
There is no antivirus programs on host and guest, firewalls are disabled.
VirtualBox version 3.0.4.

P.S. To dig some more information, i have installed Ubuntu 9.04 as a another guest OS, and ran into a complete "voodoo" situation. I have configured network adapter in Ubuntu just as in previous Windows XP guest system. And when I boot guest Ubuntu for the first time, i have no network at all, no matter how much time i wait after boot up. But if I shutdown Ubuntu, and immediately boot it for the second time - i get working network right after boot up guest OS. But if I reboot host OS, and after that boot guest Ubuntu - I got no network again until I shutdown guest and boot it for the second time.
Any help is appreciated.

Which vbox version?
What model of networkcard are you using in vbox?
Try intel e1000T server instead. You may have to go to intel to download drivers for xp.
