Hi Guys,
Been using VirtualBox for a while now and the only thing that bugs me is that on my machine it tends to eat up memory.
I am running 3.0.4 on Vista x64 with a Windows XP host that is on 24x7. It is st to 256MB memory for the guest and I have 4GB which you would have thought would be enough but after it has been running for a day or so the memory usage on the host gets up to 98%. Obviously other stuff is going on in the background but every time this happens if I shutdown the VM then the mem usage drops back down to a reasonable level. Start it up again and it runs at a normal amount and will start creaping up again. Tried things like process explorer but none really show usage above 50MB for any of the VirtualBox processes.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I think it has been going on with all the versions I have tried since 2.x something.
I forgot to say that I am running it as a vboxheadless machine.
Cheers
Paul

Re: Memory Leak?
Suggestion try running it a day from the gui to see if it is the same.
Some say: "You learn as long as you live".
My way: "You live as long as you learn".

Re: Memory Leak?
It's Vista's file cache that's eating up all the memory. See other threads on the forum.
