Hello to every one,

This is my first post, i need your solutions for the problem that i am facing.

I have installed windows XP, Fedora Core and Red Hat on my Ubuntu Jaunty AMD64. I am running VM 2.0.8 version. For my experiments i need to assign these three VM machines, IP address from 192.168.X.X to onwards. I read the documentation and posts on the group but i did not find any quick solution. I prefer not to upgrade, if there is any solution that exists. If upgrade is the only option then is there any way that i do not need to install these three operating system again as i have installed many applications and configured them which will take a lot of time.

Its like an Update of MS Office. Docs stay and can be opened with the new version.

Before upgrade delete snapshots and shut down guests regular.

Perhaps you can give us a little more information. Do you have a router there or are you trying to do this with NAT, host-only, Etc.
Explain what the addressing scheme you have to work with and maybe we can figure out what you need to do.
Type of inbound connection, host ip address range, Etc.

Dear Perryg,

The details are as under,
1-For red Hat i need to give IP 192.168.0.3
2-For Fedora Code i need to give 192.168.0.4
3-For Windows XP i need to give 192.168.0.5
4-I do not have any router i am trying this using NAT(but i am not sure that is right or not). My host system is using the public IP 172.20.105.30 which is connected with local switch and router.
The purpose of using VMBox is to simulate a local LAN scenario, therefore i installed these three OS for my experiments.
Please ask if you need more information.

I am a little confused here. You say that you do not have a router, but your host is connected to a router?

First of all to simulate a network environment you would select Bridged mode. But the version of VBox you have calls it host interface I believe. (NAT won't work for your tests)
It's been a while and I am not totally sure, but I think that the version you have will not allow more than one bridged connection. You would need to check this out yourself. Look in the Users Guide under network and fine the section that explains host-interface.

Now are these ip addresses fixed? Must the be exactly as you say, or do they simply need to be in the same range? Since your Host ip address is 172.20.105.30 the others would need to be in that range to work properly.

Though i was in a bit of urgency so i decided to take risk by upgrading to 3.0.4. The good news is that i did it correctly, know all my OS with their configurations are working perfectly. But i have problems in assigning the IP addresses. I need to assign Red Hat 192.168.0.3, Fedora Core 192.168.0.4 and Windows XP 192.168.0.5. I tried many options by selecting Internal Network, Host only , Bridge network using static and DHCP server but nothing works for me. Can you please tell me how i can assign the required IP to these machines.

I spent a lot of time in given the the required IP address to my machines, but it seems to me that there is a problem in the new version. Can any body has the same problem.
