[solved] host-only guest can't ping to LAN

I want to connect 2 VM's via TCP/IP. Host is XP, clients are Windows 2008.
Before connecting them both I tried to setup networking to ping my internal LAN router.
Error message: "Zielhost nicht erreichbar" - means target host not reachable (no timeout).

LAN Router is 192.168.0.1
Virtualbox 3.0.4 networking "host-only adapter"
Virtualbox IP: 192.168.0.120, mask: 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, dns: 192.168.0.1

This was my first test to find out how to connect the VM 1:1 to my internal LAN.

So my question is: how can I manage to set this up? I thought, that "host-only adapter" was the right mode to connect a VM with the internal LAN - and so also later to another VM.

ps: I found some older manual, which I could not use: http://is.gd/2tN51 (its from April 2008 - old Virtualbox version, obsolete parameters)
ps2: NAT mode works to connect to LAN and internet.

Host-only means just that. Only works between host and guest(s).
Either use bridged or one network adapter at nat and one as host-only.

ok, fine bridged mode works and does the job.
I was confused about the "host-only adapter", it was named similar to "Host interface" which does not exist any longer.
Now its becoming clearer. Thank you for your hint.
