Hi!

I have Windows vista, installed virtual box, and xp and ubuntu as guests, when i use vm with ubuntu
and lets say, create a folder on desktop, and then i shut it down, and then i start it again the folder is not saved.
What settings do i have to change so that i dont have to lose everything once i turned of the vm??

Check how the VDI is attached. If you attached it using the command prompt, it might be added as immutable, which clears all changes when the VM is shut down. There isn't any other reason why files would suddenly disappear.

Hi I checked it, it seems to be fine. Plus, in VirtualBox i installed one vm with ubuntu and one with xp,
i saved a file on xp on the desktop, shut it down, restarted again, and the file was still there. The problem
is only with ubuntu, any ideas?

Make some changes to your settings inside the Linux VM. Create a document in your home folder (not just the desktop, even though that folder resides on your home folder), you can use the touch command for that (touch ~/test). Then reboot the Guest. If you still see the changes and files, then that's one good thing. Shut down the Guest and start it again, doing a virtual power cycle. The files and changes should still be there and if they aren't, then changes aren't written to disk somehow.

I checked each setting from virtual machine and noticed that i forgot to remove the ISO, ....

I would guess that you see that when you start the VM, wouldn't you? It's so obvious, the entire boot menu is different.
