I'm using VirtualBox 3.0.4 on Windows Vista 64-bit, running an Ubuntu 9.04 guest OS.
Under both host and guest OS I've remapped the CapsLock key so that it acts like an
additional Ctrl key. In the Ubuntu guest I use the built-in feature for this (Layout Options),
and in the Vista host I've used some registry modification script found on the web (which
works just fine in other circumstances.)
Since updating to VirtualBox 3.0.4 (from 2.x) I've noticed that after working inside the
guest OS for a while, when I jump back to the host OS it is acting as if the CapsLock
is stuck on. I've tried pressing/holding both the CapsLock and shift keys but
nothing seems to work, short of a reboot. There are no symptoms of this problem
inside the guest OS, where everything is working as normal.
CapsLock stuck on Vista host, not in Ubuntu guest

Re: CapsLock stuck on Vista host, not in Ubuntu guest
I've found a workaround to my problem. I have found and installed an app called Caps Lock Changer.
When I run this to reprogram my CapsLock key, the problem with the stuck Caps mode is gone.

You can't really expect us to help you when the changes that you made to your system yourself, that on it's own is at your own risk, are causing problems. We only support unmodified systems. Remapping keys are at your own risk and won't get you any help here.

Re: CapsLock stuck on Vista host, not in Ubuntu guest
Hello,
i just want to tell about remapping CAPS-LOCK is not so uncommon ...
at my work-pc running XP i disabled that key because i dont like
hitting it accidently and typing lines of unusable text therafter ...
doing so never made any problem in any application there ...
( however i dont have virtualbox there so i cant test this )
i had planned eventually doing so at home but for now
i am warned this will break virtual-box ....
