[Solved] No USB Devices - Vista host / XP guest

Post by zerenia »

The subject line says it all. Have a WinXP SP3 guest on Vista Home Premium with all the latest patches. Virtualbox is 3.0.4r50677. I have a Seagate exteral hard drive with a USB interface and various USB flash drives. I installed the guest additions in the guest and the additions icon is in the guest system tray. I have no filters on the guest setup. The various devices appear on the Devices-USB Devices menu and I can click them and their status shows captured, but the devices never appear in the XP guest.

Any advice on troubleshooting would be appreciated.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I had done everything right, but I guess I wasn't clicking on the guest screen. Once I clicked the guest screen and plugged in the device, it was recognized within about 60 seconds.

Thanks again for the help.
