WIn2k8 guest on ubuntu 9 "cannot find D:\Source\install.wim

Hello,

I have a perfect win2k8 ISO file, however during installation on Linux host virtual box, the installer is directed to D:\Sources\install.wim and cannot find it.
The install.wim is present as I have checked the ISO. How can I go around this problem? Why does Virtual Box not take over and point to the file required within the ISO file?

Even though the file is there, it's possible that it's not the correct size or has the proper hash value. Linux installers do the same, it checks the MD5 checksum of the package when it's installing it. If the checksum doesn't match, it will simply state that the file is missing. For the best test, burn that ISO to a DVD and install it on a physical machine, or use the DVD instead of the ISO. Else, there is something wrong with the ISO file and you need to redownload it. Strange that you have an ISO though, but it might be that you have some kind of MSDN account which lets you download these ISO files. And how do you know it's 'perfect'?

Thanks for your reply.
As a student I ve been able to download a registered version of win2k8. The download went well and yes I "assumed " it was perfect. At least that install.wim file was there.

I now have burned it to DVD and managed the installation of a virtual win2k on ubuntu 9. But what I really want to do is install Microsoft exchange 7 over it and virtually.
As it s a layered install, I don t know how to proceed. Have you got any tip regarding this issue.

Sorry, but we don't deal with how to install certain software on an OS, it's outside the scope of this forum. Sometimes, and it depends, we DO support the software in some way, but that's only when it has something to do with VB itself. Installing Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008 does not. You have to find yourself a howto somewhere that describes it all. Are you sure that Exchange 2007 can be installed on Server 2000? I think that OS is way too old for it.
