[Solved] Internet Not Available For XP

Post by Cottonwood »

The XP Host ist connected with the network. I use it via RealVNC. The Host has no keyboard, no mouse and no monitor. So you can imagine that the network is working.

Image 1 shows that the host is connected with the internet. And it is really working.

As soon as I click on "activate" for the "VirtualBox Host-Only Network" the Internetgateway disappears and the connection is not longer available.
But the network is still working. Otherwise I would have lost the VNC connection to the host.

So what am I doing wrong? I have no idea.

Kind regards.
Claus

What happens if you simply start the guest and let it activate the host-only connection instead of you manually turning it on and off?
Also I appreciate the snapshots but I do not read German so it does not help me. Can you explain in writing instead?

*** That works.

First the internet connection didn't work within the client. Next (but later) it also didn't work within the host. Then I found out that I had to disconnect the "VirtualBox Host-Only Network" to let it work within the host. I had no idea that I only had to check whether it would work within the client now.

Sorry.

Kind regards.
Claus.
