[Solved] Cannot Go Back to Savepoint. XP Host,Knoppix Guest.

Post by Cottonwood »

Hello,

I installed Knoppix 6.0.1 under VirtualBox on an XP host. As it was completely installed I created a savepoint.
After a crash I now need to go back to the savepoint. But it is not accessible. What am I doing wrong?
Maybe it depends on the running client. But it is crashed an I can't restart or halt it.

Kind regards.
Claus

Hallo,

Was mache ich falsch?
Vielleicht hängt das mit dem laufenden Client zusammen. Aber ich kann ihn weder wieder starten noch stoppen.

MfG.
Claus

You may need to right click on the guest (the left side where it says knoppix) and then click discard to discard the saved state to be able to revert.
This should take you back to the snapshot current state. Does this not work for you?

IMHO
Also remember that a good backup of the VDI file is the only real way to save your guest.
Taking the time once a week to shut down the guest and copy the VDI file to a different folder or better yet a different drive is still the best way.

Thanks for the quick answer. I couldn't do nothing by clicking the guest. Only "pause" was able to click. And that didn't help.

The client window in XP wasn't any longer visuable but it was existing. During shutdown of XP I could stop the client and after reboot of XP I could activate the savepoint.

And just now I'm backing up.

Thank you.
