Afternoon
I am trying to get the Pc game ' Thief 2 ' working under Vbox 3.0.4
Installed the Guest addition under safe mode and Diax diag confirms I have Dx9.0c installed.
When I attempt to load Thief 2 I get the message that " your video card isnt compatible with thief 2 "
Any ideas..?

Yes: Install Windows native.
A VM is not made for gaming. 3D in a VM is a game, but its not for gaming.

... and the reason people like myself are trying to get Thief working in a Vm is because its becoming increasingly harder the continue playing this game and others on latest versions of windows. I am curretnly downloading the Maxpayne demo as above to ascertain if the problem with my guest xp install or thief.

Re: D3D(Thief 2): Vista host - Xp guest
It's possible that it isn't VB that is the real issue, rather how Thief is trying to be smart about determining the actual video card.
In the USER.CFG there's a line as follows:
;Some video cards may not work properly with Thief 2
;including the intel 810 and the nVidia RIVA 128.
;To fix, remove the semicolon from the next line.
;safe_texture_manager
Try removing the semicolon before the 'safe_texture_manager' line, and see what happens.
A full listing of things people had to do to run Thief on newer systems can be found at the following url:
