I have installed the 3.0.4 ver of VB on my Windows Vista Home Premium 64 machine,
AMD 64 duel 2.4gb processors
4gb ram
1tb SATA
Harddrive

I installed the software and wanted to install the Joomla ISO, but I just keep getting the same message that no medium could be found, process failed :(

Two things that will cause this is either you have not mounted the ISO in the guest settings or you have a bad download of Joomla.

Some reading of the VBox Users Guide section 3.2. Creating a virtual machine might help too.
Located in the VBox GUI under help - contents.

Thanks, that helped alot and I got the guest to start, however I can not start the joomla turnkey and get the mouse to work. I actually end up on the joomla root and there is a VB message box blocking the window indicating that I need to change the display colors to 32. I can see that the usb is working and the keyboard works but the mouse is frozen on the OK button on the VB popup. I have tried the right CTRL key and every other key but nothing releases the mouse. I can not launch the guest additions as the cd-rom will only alow you to launch one ISO.
Thanks :?

Make sure that you have not created a USB filter for the mouse and keyboard. Nasty things like them not working will happen.
Also install the guest additions as soon as you can.

@mcoletta,

I have installed the joomla from turnkey and it operates exactly as intended.
You do realize that this is a console based Linux application right? There is not desktop or X-server installed.
To access this if you are not familiar with the command line they have installed webmin and you can access it through a browser using the following
https://<the ip address of the unit>:12321 or what ever your configuration screen shows.
Maybe you were expecting desktop.
You can actually install these if you need. Go to https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/installati ... index.html and see how.

I was aware of that and intended to use the web interface, however I can not do that as the mouse is frozen on top with the VB popup and I can not see any of the installation or startup infromation. That's why I need to understand what I am doing wrong, or how do I get the installation of the guest additions when I am at the prompt so that I can get the mouse to work. is there a small amount of instruction to install the guest additions ISO at the joomla root ?

Since this is a console based OS you do not need the guest additions.

What does concern me is the mouse freezing on you. My install did not freeze the mouse.
Look in the guest settings and make sure that the USB section is not enabled and try the mouse again.
Also you can look at the machine, VBox logs to see if it shows an error that would be causing this.

One other thing, your profile states that you are using the OSE version of VBox. Are you, or is this the PUEL version that you downloaded from VBox?

I think it is the PUEL.
Thanks for all the information. I created a new installation and it launched fine. I found that if I did not select the usb stuff it worked fine, still working on the configuration which will not network using the dhcp auto setup, but will keep trying and reading

During the original configuration you can select a static IP over the dynamic one. That way you will not need to search for the address should it change.

Anyway glad to hear you have it going. The rest is getting it (the OS) setup and running.
Have fun.
