Virtualbox issue on ASUS 1005HA - eeebuntu

PC Hardware: ASUS 1005-HA-BLK016X
Host OS: eeebuntu 3.0 (ubuntu jaunty 9.04)
Guest OS: Windows XP sp3
Virtualbox (ubuntu) v3.0.4 r50677

The 'WindowsXP' guest runs well but the resolution is very low. 800x600 (with scroolbars) and 'quality color' is set to 'lowest value (4 bits) (no more choice).
Add-on guest drivers are installed.
The screensize of notebooks like ASUS-eee is small: (1024x600). A turn-around to get choices of screensize and depth-resolution?
Thanks

Hi!

I have similar problems. I have Ubuntu 9.04 as host running WinXP as guest, using VBox 3.0.4 with the latest GA. I'm using a Samsung NC10.

I've managed to get higher resolution using this command when VirtualBox was shut down;

Code: Select all

VBoxManage setextradata global GUI/MaxGuestResolution 1024,768
This enabled me to choose the resolution of 1024x768, but then I tried setting the max resolution to 1024x600 using the above command it is back to 800x600. Setting the highest resolution to 1024x768 doesn't enable me either to chose 1024x600.

Has anyone managed to get the resolution set to 1024x600, I've managed several times on other computer to set the resolution to 1024x600 when using Win XP as host and Ubuntu as guest.

Please, all help is very appriciated!

Thanks in advance!

Sincerley,
Jonas Andersson

Doh!

Got it working by enabling auto resize in the Machine menu.
