access to host shared folders from guest liveCD

In order to run a live CD (i.e. Knnopix, sysresccd or whatever) as guest on VirtualBox, I attach the liveCD iso image to the virtual machine CD. Then I start the machine and everything goes OK (I don't need even to create virtual hard disks)

But how can I access host shared folders from this system?

The CD is busy, so how do you install Guest Additions? Is it not possible?

Many thanks in advance

The guest additions would have to be installed as part of the operating system on the live CD. I can't tell you whether that is possible. I assume you need access to some files while running from the CD. Can't you just copy these files into the guest before booting the CD? Or put the files on another CD/DVD?

Thanks mpack. That could be an option, but how do you run another CD in virtualbox while your guest system is already running from CD?

You don't, you just replace the CD/DVD in the drive at the appropriate time. Obviously this requires that the software you want to use can run and then prompt for the data location. Alternatively copy the appropriate program or the data on to any other accessible drive so that both program and data can be available at the same time.

I get the feeling you don't want to copy anything to the system hard disk of the guest, so yet another option is to temporarily attach a second VDI to the guest, copy all the data files to that.
