Hi all.
I can't make networking on my guest Ubuntu 9.04.
I have tried NAT and Bridge without success. On guest Ubuntu I setup ip 10.6.68.137 / 24. I'm checking network with ping and telnet <myProxyIp> 3128.
On host windows XP (fresh install) ServicePack3 firewall is disabled, no antivirus software.
Please advice something!

VirtualBOX verison 3.0.4r50677.

Hi,

Here is a little method to re-install VBox under XP to have nice chances to get the bridge working :

-> Uninstall VBox
-> Now, go in your Control Panel -> System -> Hardware and desactivate all your network adapters (even the one you shall use later in VBox)
-> Once this done, install VBox again, and once the installation is done, don't start VBox yet.
-> You can now re-activate your network adapter(s)
-> Now in VBox, select your network adapter used for Bridge in the Network options.
-> Start VBox. If your Ubuntu configuration is set to Auto and your network is configurated as DHCP, this should work.

For Agnitum Outpost Firewall ( but this is not your case ) :

Nat is known to cause problems when Content Filter is activated. You can unactivate it by modifying the machine.ini in C:/Program Files/Agnitum/Outpost.
Find the line "EnableContentHandler" and set the value to FALSE. Save the file and restart the computer.

I really hope this will help you ;) Keep asking in case it wont ! Cheers

Nope :(
On fresh windows XP I disable network adapter, install VB, enable network and test = nothing :(
I disabled both network adapters, reinstall VB (repair), one card was enabled, enableing another, testing = nothing :(

But in this time I'm tested only bridging.

Strange... Well, i wish i could help more by looking and testing on my own VBox install but im actually at work right now ^^

What you could try now is to remove the VBox Host Interface (look around in VBox options, you should find) and restart to see. I had pretty much the same problem as you on past versions (look at my posted messages) and at the time, this helped me.

I forgot to uninstall VB as you offer. Now I have tried this also without success.

Well well.... What ip does Ubuntu give you for your virtual network adapter ? Give the ip adress, submask and gateway. Try also to give the log of VBox for this VM, if you find the part when it shows the network settings.
