Win 7 not auto-resizing

I'm running the x32 Win 7 guest on a Vista x64 host with VB 3.0.4 and after installing the guest additions, both without using compatibility mode and with vista compatibility mode, the guest screen will not auto-resize and I am unable to even change the resolution manually (stuck at 800x600 and drop-down is grayed out). I've even increased the video RAM with no change. Mouse integration works so the GA must be installing.
I've searched around and not found anything on how to fix this.
Any ideas?

Try to check what video card Windows 7 tells you is installed on the guest.

It's a VirtualBox Graphics Adapter (which the Device Manager tells me is up to date driver-wise).

In the list of available resolutions & refresh rates for the video card, what do you have ? I don't know if it's possible to extract in some ways the drivers installed by the guest additions and re-install them, but you should look around.

That's just it, I have no ability to drop down the list for resolutions to actually see other options or change it, it's just grayed out.

Well, it's obviously some problems with the driver VBox installed. Let's see if someone more accurate on the subject can tell you something. I'll myself check this as soon as i get the RTM version of Win 7 (tomorrow ;D ) and i'll give some news then.

croese, are you running the RTM release? If so, that's probably the problem. The GA are currently made for the RC and as we've stated a zillion times, non-final versions of an OS can have some last-minute changes that can and probably will break the limited support that was added. You have to wait for the next VB release and hope they added full support for the RTM release. Until then, you have to keep trying and hope for the best. Maybe someone else got it working and can tell you how he did it.

Actually, I am using the RC (build 7100), not the RTM. I don't meet any of the requirements to get the RTM (so far as I know). I even checked the guest OS status page before I downloaded the RC and it says it works with GA. From searching around online, people using VB 2.1.2 (or some minor release after it) just install GA and resizing works. Everywhere I look, it's the same story. The OS installs perfectly and runs fine, so I'm pretty sure it's not a bad download and the GA gives every indication of installing properly.
Any other ideas? I'll try blowing everything away (VB install, Win7 ISO) and reinstalling/redownloading everything.

Hi Croese,
I'm running VB.2.2.4 r47978 on my MacBook Pro. I've just created my x86 Win 7 RTM guest and was able to intall GA 2.2.4 normally. After the reboot I'm able to resize the screen no problem.
I've upgraded my VB to 3.0.4 r50677, started my Win 7, resizing was still working with GA 2.2.4. I then uninstalled GA 2.2.4 to install the latest GA 3.0.4 with Direct3d support and resizing was still working...
though I would share this.
Cheers
