Hi,
an update from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 on a 32-bit Windows XP host permanenty destroyed the connectvity for *all* my network connections, LAN, WiFi and a Nokia smartphone USB modem. Rebooting and reconfiguring the connections didn't help. I had to remove the LAN and WiFi devices with Windows' Device Manager and have them re-installed by Windows. The Nokia modem is now completely dead. Even removing it and re-installing Nokia's PC Suite didn't restore the connectivity here. Now that's really bad.
What's wrong? Is there anyone else who has such problems?
Thanks, Jay

Please check out my thread on the same problem with Windows 7 RC:

Of note, I just reloaded the host OS completely with Windows 7 RTM/final version (we are a volume license customer and I have it legally already). I just installed VBox 3.0.4 and it did NOT break the host networking...
So, perhaps the solution is to completely uninstall your existing copy of VBox, reboot, and then try loading 3.0.4? I didn't do this before reloading my host OS but it seems logical that it may work.

Thanks, but how do I restore the network connectivity of my host? Re-installing VirtualBox is, frankly, not my primary goal for the moment...

Try unchecking the VirtualBox entries from the network connections' properties, then disabling and reenabling the devices. If that doesn't help, remove the VirtualBox drivers entirely (Device Manager, Show non-plug and play devices, find VirtualBox entries in that list and uninstall them). This should remove all the changes VirtualBox made to networking.
