I have just got Windows 2000 SP4 running as a guest on my Mac Mini (VBox v. 2.2.4). The 4 Windows programs I need are all working perfectly. I have Windows automatic updates turned off, and I made a backup copy of my VDI file in case I get a virus (I'm not running a firewall or AV program, since this is why I went to Mac in the first place). I'm not saving any data in Windows just in case I need to make use of my backup VDI.
So when I start up VirtualBox, and I see the notice about a new version being available, the only thing I can think of is -- why would I want to mess with something that works perfectly? Any suggestions on this? Is there any way to tell VBox not to check for updates?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Run GUI, File | Preferences | Update, turn off the checkbox.

Because it doesn't work perfectly. You just haven't hit any particular condition that causes a problem yet.acevh3 wrote: why would I want to mess with something that works perfectly? Any suggestions on this?
That said, yes, you may not want to upgrade. It does seem to carry some risk...
