Failed to attach USB Flash

When I click on the USB icon in the lower right of the guest screen, I get:” Failed to attach the USB 2.0 Flash Disk[1100] to the virtual machine. USB device is busy with a previous request. Please try later.

The host is Windows7 Ultimate, the guest Windows Vista Home Premium and the Virtual Box 2.2.2.
VirtualBoxGuestAdditions are installed

Make sure that you have not defined any filters in the USB section. Windows does not need them and it can cause it not to work.
Just enable it and then select the device you want in the device tab at the top left of the VBox guest window.
Let us know if this does or does not work.

I am installing Windows Vista Enterprise on Virtual box (3.0.4), I follow what said above but I am not able to connect to my USB storage device. My laptop is running on Windows Vista Home Premium. Please help.

I did it exactly the way you prescribed: no filters, enable usb, select the specific usb flash in the device tab at the top left of the VBox guest window.

It did not work, I get the exact same statement: Failed to attach USB Flash…etc.

P.S. Could the trouble be, because the computer’s memory is rather low?

After increasing the memory of the host machine, I could finally use a USB flashdrive on the guest successfully. Though I was still wrongly told that the device driver for usb flash drive was unsuccessfully installed.
