Is it possible to disable VM's from starting when navigating using the mouse? So when I left click on a VM I want nothing to happen as it stands now when I left click on a VM the VM starts. I am adding and removing machines all the time and when I left click on the VM I want to be able to click on a VM (have it not start) so I can adjust its settings. Yes I am aware that using the up/down keys is a work around but I want the old way back. System is Debian 5 testing/sid mix with virtualbox version 3.0.4 r50677.

Quick question.
Do you have your mouse set for single click somewhere. On all of mine systems I must double click to start the VM and a single click simply selects it. Check out the mouse settings on the host.

Also when a mouse starts going bad (click is worn out) they act this way too. Just a thought.
As another work around you can right click on the VM and then select settings. Other than that I know of no way to stop the click from opening the VM.

@perryg: Nope I need to double click to open files/folders on my system but VB single click starts the VM. As for the mouse going bad this happens on all 3 of my systems. I am running Debian 5 with KDE4 and VB 3.0.4 r50677. What version of VB are you running? I know after an upgrade it started to do this but I can't remember which version it was that did it (been doing this for sometime now). Thanks for the right click option as this and the arrow keys are what I have been using but I really hate both alternatives!

I have to say this is the first time I have heard this one. The only think that I can thing of is to:
(1) look at the .virtualbox.xml and the machine.xml for any thnig about the mouse and if that does not work:
(2) Then you can try to uninstall the VBox program and then after a reboot install it again. Your machines should be picked up again with no problems, but as always backup! It is advisable to backup regularly anyway.

This has nothing to do with VB itself, as I've seen it before with other users, and on my own system (while I don't even run KDE). The problem is your desktop manager, KDE. You're probably using some style that has this as a setting. Please use a different style. You can do that with the KDE settings, but the qtconfig-qt4 application can also do this. The latter is what I used before when it started misbehaving. Selecting a different theme will certainly solve this strange behaviour. It's strange that you only have it with VB and not with other applications. Probably because they don't have a double click feature like VB has.

@Sasquatch: Thanks for the heads up on the theme hint. Even though, I tried gnome and it did the same thing, after further digging into the theme settings I found the culprit and all is well now. Thank you all for your suggestions.

I just remembered the name of the misbehaving Qt4 theme that I was using: Skulpture. I don't and didn't use KDE, so I had to change the theme settings with qtconfig-qt4, which you probably used too. Now I'm sure that there are other themes than Skulpture that has this misbehaviour. Glad I could push you in the right direction.
